Hard at work at Carriage House Studios | August 15, 2012

The Vanderbuilts spent the last week working on their next album at the beautiful Carriage House Studios. One of the nicest and friendliest studios on the east coast.They’ll treat you and your music right!

In three solid days, the band recorded 12 songs in their near entirety.
Almost everything was tracked at the same time, thus the record really captures the unique live sound that The Vanderbuilts are well known for.

The day after their session, the sleepless band returned to Pete’s Candy Store for their second time and rocked a packed house!

The Vanderbuilts...
There is a grandeur about unassuming and unprentious folk-tinged indie rock outfit, The Vanderbuilts. Could it be the enchanting Vanderbilt Mansion near lead singer/guitarist Sam Kogon’s childhood home after which The Vanderbuilts were named that gives this Syracuse-based group their splendor? Nay - It is something more terrestrial, more tangible – great authentic songs, gifted musicianship, and a pure, familiar sound.
The quintet comprised of Kogon, multi-instrumentalist Dave Riddell, violinist Aya Yamamoto, bassist Max Newland, and drummer Grennan Milliken formed in the fall of 2010. The band quickly rose through the ranks of the Syracuse, NY music scene. In the spring of 2011 the band released their debut EP entitled Far From Here. The stop-less concept EP is part social commentary, part hopeless love story, part call to action – it can be found for free on the band’s website.
The band is presently working on tracking their follow-up to LP to Miguel's Orchard. Miguel's Orchard, named after a line in track, "Welcome Home," is an anthology of material The Vanderbuilts have amassed in their inaugural year. Included on Miguel's Orchard are fan favorites such as “I’m Coming Home” and “She Takes The Cake.” Catch The Vanderbuilts this summer as they tour the northeast in support of their latest effort.
